Over the holiday break, we spent a lot of time in the back room working on the cabinets and shelves. Patrick spent his time helping any way he could. Testing the holding capacity of the cabinets (empty of stuff, they do fit one Patrick), banging on the doors or anything else to check for structural issues (no issues detected), and anything else he could get into.
When Dad drilled the holes for the door/drawer pulls, Patrick checked
each one with his flashlight. Most of the time if Dad did something, Patrick had to do it also, like walking on top of the counter top.
Most of the painting was done after Patrick had gone to bed, but some of it was done while he was up. If Patrick was awake for the painting he was handed an empty paint tray and a clean brush to play with.
Even when all the work was done and time had past for the paint to cure and the shelves were being filled, Patrick was right there to help and get under foot.
